Who deserves to be respected??

Praise the LORD!!

When we live in this world we come across different kind of people, people with different mind set, varying attitude levels and so on. Sometimes we get annoyed with the behaviour of few people and we love to hang out with few other people. Sometimes we come across questions like Should we respect so and so person? Why should I have respect for that person? and many such questions.

So lets hear what the Word of God says about this

1 Peter 2:17 
Show proper respect to everyone;

This verse says it all, Show respect to everyone. No matter who it is whether it is your father, mother, brother/sister, husband/wife, friend, employer,colleagues,ruler  or any other person.

If You are a child:
Ephesians 6:1-3 says
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother"-which is the first commandment with a promise- "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

Leviticus 19:3 says
'Each of you must respect his mother and father;

1 John 4:21

 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

If You are an employee:

1 Thessalonians 5:12 
Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you.

Ephesians 6:5 
Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.

If you are a  Husband/Wife:
Ephesians 5:33 
However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

If you are an elder:
Titus 2:2 
Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.

At every stage of life, we are asked to respect every other person living with us.
Sometimes we demand respect for ourselves as well and here is what Bible says:

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 
Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

And Finally, Even after all this if you feel like Why should I??

Look at what Bible says:

Matthew 5:43-48 
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Why am I not beautiful??

Praise the LORD!!


Many people in this world are very much concerned on how they look, worried about their appearance for various reasons. Most common reasons may be to boost their self esteem, impress others or other such  things.


So we try every other beauty product available in the market, go for surgeries and do whatever we know to enhance our beauty and then try to show it off to the world. External beauty may not last as long as we live, once we are old our beauty is no more.


Sometimes we feel so low that we go down into depression and then we start asking God, why am I not beautiful?? Why am I not as beautiful as so and so.


Let us hear what the Bible says to such hearts:


1Peter 3:3-4 says "You should not use outward aids to make yourselves beautiful, such as the way you do your  hair, or the jewellery you put on, or the dresses you wear. Instead, your beauty should consist of your true inner self, the ageless beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of the greatest value in God's sight."


Here the above verse emphasises on the need to look good in Gods sight rather than trying to look good to the world. The way god looks at his people is different from the way this world looks at us, as is evident from the following verse


1 Samuel 16:7 "For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 


So we must try to enhance the beauty of our heart, our character which lasts long and which will take us much more closer to God. We must try to nourish our heart, our spirit such that our faces will shine just like Moses' face


Exodus 34:29 - "When Moses went down from Mount Sinai carrying the Ten Commandments, his face was shining because he had been speaking with the LORD"


It also doesn't mean that people who are beautiful are Gods people, the following verse makes it clear for us
Matthew 23:28 - "In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous, but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness." 


Lastly, The verse which will give comfort to those who have this question, "Why am I not beautiful?', which makes everyone happy, which will let us know that we are his children is 


Genesis 1:26-27 "Then God said,"And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us....So God created human beings, making them to be like himself. He created them male and female."


So what the bible says is we are made just like God himself. Lets give thanks to the Lord our God for making us in his own image and lets try to enhance the beauty of our heart.

With the inspiration and encouragement from fellow believers in Christ, I wanted to share the Word of God with all of you out there through my posts here.


My main intention and purpose of this blog, is to reach out for people who are looking for answers. Answers for the questions which we come across in our day to day life. 


From the time we step into the outside world, we come across different situations which arise many questions in our mind but most of us don't know where to find answers. Only few people know that Bible has answers for all our questions and that is what I am going to show you all.


So, To start of with I have a question in my mind now. What should be my first post on this blog??

As I said, Bible has an answer for all our questions and so i'll meditate on the Word of God to find an answer to this question.
