Praise the LORD!
Ten Commandments, from the book of Exodus 20:2-17 and Deuteronomy 5:6-21, are some times misunderstood to be restrictions on human beings denying them the luxury and free will. The first four commands relate to God himself, Worshipping him alone, No Idol worshipping, Taking his name in vain and about the Sabbath day which creates many doubts in our minds.
Matthew 6:24 says "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other..." from this we understand that its a valid point that if we worship multiple Gods then we are not sure to whom we should devote ourself and whom to despise. Not always true but this does happen and we check our day to day relationships for confirmation.
Coming to Idol (Images/Objects) worshipping, If we observe closely on most occasions the attention shifts to the Idol/Objects rather than God. In our traditional festivals celebrated widely, Easter comes along with Easter Bunny & Easter Eggs which are taking the centre stage and Christmas Tree, Candies and Gifts take the centre stage during the Christmas Season. Though this is not bad but the focus should be more on recognising the significance of Christs and Glory to our heavenly father.
I am absolutely sure that each and everyone of you will definitely become angry on me if I use your name for a wrongful purpose which might bring you bad name or make you feel ashamed and so similarly our heavenly father doesn't want us to take his name in vain.
As far as keeping Sabbath Day is concerned, When you are spending 6 days in a week doing all sorts of work other than spending time with God it is very much necessary to recharge yourself with the Word of God in his presence and have a fellowship with fellow believers.
Hope we will be in the position of David where he says in Psalm 119: 97 "Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day"
May God Blessings be showered on each of us,
